Obituary for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
It was with great sadness that members of The Windsor and Eton Society heard of the death of our Queen. We offer to His Majesty King Charles and to members of the Royal Family our deepest condolences.
Queen Elizabeth was a constant feature in all our lives for seventy years and we have admired her many excellent qualities which has made her one of our greatest monarchs. She carried out her promise to serve her people all her life and we in our turn have been privileged to be those subjects.
The many tributes from all quarters of the United Kingdom and overseas bear witness to the respect and affection in which Her Majesty was held. We in Windsor and Eton felt we had a special bond, given she regarded Windsor as her home particularly in the latter years of her life.
The Windsor and Eton Society was privileged to take part in the Platinum Jubilee Facelift when Windsor and Eton were encouraged to beautify themselves to celebrate the seventy years of the Queen’s reign. We hope that the Platinum Jubilee showed the Queen how much she was loved and to thank her for her dedication to our residents.
Elizabeth II was unique, and we shall not see her like again. We celebrate a very long and very successful reign and thank her for being a constant and reassuring presence over the last seventy years.
We now look forward to the reign of His Majesty King Charles III.
Long live the King.
